THE EXEMPLARY MR. DAY by Sir S. H. Scott

THE EXEMPLARY MR. DAY

By

Publisher: Putnam -- Minton,Balch

A literary oddity -- a unique character of late 18th century England. Exponent of the back to nature Rousseau school -- and ridden by an obsession that he must find himself a wife who fell into scheduled lines, which he had drawn up. Seven abortive attempts -- the damsels fled, after a glance at his requirements -- and then he adopted two orphans, so that he might bring them up as he would have them. This too proved a failure. Delightfully done -- for discriminating public, especially anyone interested in that period.
