HER NAME IS MERCY

Led by Sister Mercy, three Maryknoll nuns re-entered Pusan, nine months after the outbreak of the Korean War, to set up a clinic for hordes of refugees. Diagnosing and treating disease, dispensing clean clothing and food from meagre stores donated to them, they went out to trenches and caves to help those who could not come to them. The fight against TB, smallpox, malnutrition and exhaustion continued while lines of refugees lengthened. A shining tribute to human compassion.
