KIRKUS REVIEW

The sub-title Psychodynamics and Therapy indicates the professional nature of this symposium by followers of Freud who while accepting his original premises- have developed them more fully. The articles are both a theoretical and clinical examination of perversions. From the more general definition and classification, aetiology, and a view of the cultural variations on what may be considered ""normal"", this considers the several forms of perversion, homosexuality, sado-masochism, exhibitionism, fetishism, always emphasizing the psychotic nature of any perversion which is a mixture of perverse manifestation and neurotic symptom. The terminology is extremely technical and there is a substantial amount of analytical case material. For therapists, exclusively.
