KIRKUS REVIEW

A compulsive shoplifter offers the first piece of a rather involved puzzle to Don Cades, store detective for Fifth Avenue's fashionable Ambletts. And the murder of Glassware's junior executive implicating the department's buyer, a wealthy customer, an off-best songstress, leads Cadee through a plot to rob the store's Christmas salaries. The pace is fast but does not disguise the fact that Cadee's clues are highly manufactured.
