Despite a round dozen of other editions of now in print in this country, many will welcome with a nostalgic pang, this edition with the Jessie Willcox Smith illustrations with which many of us grew up. Originally published by David McKay, this is now being transferred to the Scribner Illustrated Classics. The eleven color plates and decorative line drawings -- though their glamor is slightly dulled by years- are still deeply evocative. And the story is as popular today as ever.
