Lively, rhythmic, repetitive text and vivid illustrations encourage infants and toddlers and their adults to do simple, loving activities together.

Each double-page spread features adults and children of similar hair and skin color playing together and enjoying one another. “Baby wiggle toes, / wiggle toes, / wiggle toes. // Baby touch your nose, / touch your nose, / touch your nose.” All the families in this book—whether their skin is dark brown, light brown, or white and whether their hair is straight or curly, red, brown, or black—are having fun together. Each baby is shown with both mom and dad or only with mom or only with dad; same-sex parents and mixed-race couples are noticeably absent. Many of the colorful illustrations feature families outdoors, at the beach, in the park, or in the woods. The kids and adults have warm, tender expressions and are engaged in playful and loving activities. “Baby touch the sky, / touch the sky, / touch the sky. // Baby spread your wings and / fly, fly, fly. // Baby cuddle, kiss, and giggle. / Baby loves to / wiggle wiggle!”

Although it’s been done before, this multiracial combination of families enjoying simple, loving, everyday fun is a quiet charmer.
