THE BROWN DERBY COOKBOOK

The famous Los Angeles Brown Derby was started as a glorified chili parlor in 1926. Here is its story, the record of its mushroom growth, of the personalities associated with it, of the stunts which were pulled. For the movie world reading public, this part of the book is a natural. How much that market will gear with those interested in the cookbook aspects is a moot question. Bits about screen stars, their selection of specialties of the house, their choices of ways to prepare various dishes makes it a chatty, gossipy sort of cookbook throughout. For practical home use, the recipes themselves are of uneven value, the quantities (usually but not always indicated) are large for family use. There are a great many California specialties. And the general overall is masculine taste.
