THE KING'S CAT IS COMING! An Alphabetical Tale

Alphabetical it is, but there's scarcely a tale to be found. Prefaced by the announcement that ""the King's cat is coming!"" a gaping population proceeds to speculate, from A to Z, on what kind of a cat it might be: angry, bashful, curious. . . . lazy, mysterious, naughty, old. . . .yawning or zany. After all 26 versions of the cat are presented in crude color, exaggerated poses, and courtly costumes, you won't care if it's Cheshire; what it does turn out to be, to the kingdom's apparent delight and readers' likely disgust, is ""a kitten!"" The king's cat can go.
