THE THREE-FOUR KITTENS AND THE TWO-THREE TENTS

If this is intended as a successor to Hoo! Hoo! De Witt! by Frances Duncombe (and the lavishness of the fine color reproduction leads me to think so) it is a disappointment. The pictures are beautifully done by Jean Lamont, and beautifully reproduced, but a trifle obscure. And the story would be very confusing to any child with even a budding conception of relation of numbers. It is a nonsense tale about the odd kitten and of how successively he -- or she -- spent the night out. There is a bit of factual content, thinly veiled, in the contacts with the beaver, the raccoon, the bob cat, the bear, the dog -- but it is unimportant and irrelevant.
