NORTHERN LIGHTS TO FIELDS OF GOLD

Pub Date: Dec. 15th, 1939

This reads like fiction but is authentic autobiography, in a story of early gold rush days, and of Indians untouched by white intervention in the Alaska of '98. A tenderfoot from Kentucky, the author was robbed of his small outfit, earned money by overland hauling with a crippled horse, went broke, and joined the rush to Dawson. He started a market, was successful for a time, then at the instigation of a gold-greedy singer began playing around in the sporting world and was wiped out. Finally, he gets a fresh start, marries and eventually becomes a solid citizen.
