KIRKUS REVIEW

Homeowners contemplating repairs or remodeling for the first time can consult this Baedeker of information on what's available and who sells it. Need new wall coverings? Schuler discusses the kinds of papers, fabrics, and thicker coverings (cork, wood veneer)obtainable, describes the differences, and lists the names (but not addresses) of manufacturers. Or he moves to the kitchen and considers cabinets, sinks, dishwashers, and basic appliances, and includes the numerous variations (electric and gas ranges, freestanding or eye-level models) which each company offers. And flooring choices vary from the least inspired resilient sheeting to classy woods, marble, and slate. Everything from tools and adhesives to wiring and insulation systems.
