KIRKUS REVIEW

A picture-cum-text record of the 26th President of the United States, the world into which he was born and the accelerated pace of the world he left behind, this assembles some 750 pictures accompanied by 150,000 words. Photographs, political and newspaper cartoons, and photographic facsimiles make their visual commentary on the facts noted, and reflect the quality of American changes while, against this background, the family life and professional career of Roosevelt stand in clear outline. Pictorial interest is high here in the many unusual illustrations and early Rooseveltiana and it should fill a need in picture books with a nostalgic turn for holiday giving. Unfortunately, no galleys are available on the text so this is simply a summary announcement.
