AGAIN THE RIVER

A story of the flood areas of West Virginia and of the effect of the constant threat of the river on the people who live in its power. Three successive floods take their toll, but the love of the river, unpredictable enemy though it is, controls successive generations. The romance in the story seems secondary to the story of the river itself. Forcefully written, this might have been an impressive book. Actually, it is oversentimental and falls short of the goal at which it is aimed.
