KIRKUS REVIEW

Some humor, sentiment, uplift provides this tale of average though thoroughly human people with an appeal for a more conservative audience than the usual rental type. A family tale of the Manners,- father, mother and five children, in Sussex on the eve of the war. Money tangles, marital tangles, emotional tangles- and as the war comes nearer, things gain perspective, and in the unravelling of their problems, the family meets the war with their individual and united strength.
