A warm, appealing story -- though some may dismiss it as sentimental and unreal. The story of Nya, aged thirteen, who comes back from Africa to England to be brought up by her uncle and aunt; and of her love for Simon, twenty-four, who meets her on the jetty, takes her sailing and tries to protect her from the misinterpretations the average adult would put upon their relation. She is a strangely mature child, perceptively developed, and her feeling for Simon and his for her is made thoroughly understandable. The story ends on a note of looking forward. A book for a rather specialized audience. Read and see for yourself. We liked it.
