You can always count on Stephen Meader, and as usual he turns out a good yarn in this story of a Maine boy, Jeff Robbins, who in 1812 goes to sea in a cargo schooner bound for Havana, is impressed as a seaman on a British frigate, sees several battles, escapes with a comrade to an uninhabited Caribbean isle, finds treasure, is lost on the open sea, and is picked up and brought back to the States by an American schooner. Well told, realistic adventure with plenty of history, though with a pro-American slant.
