KIRKUS REVIEW

Stephen Meader's full length sports story is an appealing one as short (5'4"") Peewee Carson, a new boy at Hackersville high school wins his place on the basketball team. When Peewee enters as a freshman, his chance comes when the Hackersville Hornets are in sore need of players. But his skill as a coordinator and team-minded player prove him of far more than fill-in worth and he sees his team to a state championship. Outside the sports element there are some good family and community descriptions and the drawings by Don Sibley see the court from the player's point of view.
