A horse racing adventure story, drawn against the glamorous background of old time fair grounds, is a good sequel to Red Horse Hill, one of Meader's best books. Shad Davis, lanky youngster with a feel for horses, has the chance of becoming a racing sulky driver (and incidentally to run down a horse thief- holdover of Red Horse Hill plot). Lively, entertaining reading, with plenty of action, plausible enough to ring true, and with factual background of the setting and some of the characters to give it authenticity. Not limited to this age level- would recommend to ten and up.
