You just know a book with an ooey-gooey touch-and-feel booger on the cover has got to be good, and this gleefully gross pop-up doesn’t disappoint. With a scope that includes the respiratory and circulatory systems, the book moves from the nose and its boogers to lungs, blood and heart, each spread illustrated in Sharratt’s customary eye-popping style and festooned with flaps, tabs and other doodads that genially direct readers to various subtopics, including the difference between breathing and respiration, the cells that make up blood and so on. A “Guess the Gross Close-Up” on each page presents a magnifying-glass–framed photo of polluted lung interiors, a bacterium in the bloodstream and like cool stuff. A hodgepodge of related information is gathered in the final spread, an amusement park of facts. Awesome. (Informational pop-up. 5-10)
