Fear of crowds and a sudden burst of courage are the chief traits which make Hawaiian Keoni distinguishable from his many cardboard friends who are enthralled with and immersed in the fascination of skuba diving and The Skuba Shop. Keoni's destiny is changed when he hits Mr. Westerdahl with his surf board. The older man is confined to the hospital as a result of the accident, and Keoni visits him every day. All Keoni's troubles dissolve when he leaves Hawaii with ""Wes"" and his exquisite step-daughter bound for California where he will study. The descriptions are trite; there is not enough emphasis on skuba diving to satisfy fanciers of the sport.
