DUDE RANCHER

There's good informational material in this story of a youth who felt that dude ranching offered more opportunity for his gifts and interests than an office job in the east. But the facts are more or less submerged in a rather complex story, which doesn't quite seem to ""jell"". Phil thought he had proved his worth at the Wakefield ranch -- but the jealousy of the foreman and the weakness of the owner resulted in his losing his job. Finally it was Mollie and her grandfather, ""Pop"" Wakefield, who located him and brought him back, under new auspices, to get the foothold that led to a ranch along his own lines. The various aspects of ranch life, behind the facade, come to the fore, but the story limps a bit in interest.
