The neighborly sheriff of Tucker County, West Virginia, is W. T. (Cub) Hamill, a widowed sheep farmer who's ""always lived on the hillbilly Line."" Then there's a gruesome murder--that of a marijuana-growing hippie who's shot, bled, and ""hung up by the hocks to cure""--followed by more violence after the arrival of Mafia button men. That's enough mayhem to transform most any old peacekeeper into an ""avenging angel."" Cub Hamill's native folksiness just about redeems the bestiality down-home here.
