ANNIE'S FOUR GRANNIES

Annie, as with many children of divorce, has four grandmothers, but hers are just terrible. They come to her birthday party and quarrel, hide, run and wreck things, and in general act like misbehaving little children. But Annie lures them out of their hiding places and bad moods with the promise of tea and cake; they emerge to reconcile and enjoy themselves with Annie's four parents, around the table. For children with angst from their parents' behavior, this book might offer hope of eventual peace. For general readers, the silly grandmas and their antics, told in brisk quatrains, may provoke mirth--if they can accept the general situation. Illustrations are bright and bouncy and do much to advance the text.
