A PRIMER OF ECONOMICS

Extremely well done, this skillful job of simplification of the basic elements in modern economics. Through illustration and dramatization, Mr. Chase has succeeded in throwing light on the contradictions -- or seeming contradictions -- of economics in the world today; he has taken basic principles, shown how they operate in a world where competition and control are still uncertain of their functions, where the real value of money is in doubt, where debt and credit and ""pump priming"" play their part. Some will challenge his position on certain points, but all will recognize the service he does in unscrambling the eggs for people -- young and old -- who are not quite sure what modern economics mean.
