KIRKUS REVIEW

Companion volume to Pan-American Spanish Self-Taught and Brazilian Portuguese Self Taught. The method used is intended to give a working knowledge of the language vital in business and education, by way of simplifying the study of what- in this case particularly- is a very difficult tongue. The directions at the start stress the way in which the text should be used, the importance of studying first the introduction for pronunciation, accent, etc. Then in subsequent lessons, each case is presented in its entirety, so that there need be no checking back and forth (except- perhaps- to the introduction, and to the section on the elements of Russian grammar). Individual lessons start out with vocabulary, then readymade phrases, exercises in conversation, special exercises in translation, and a question and answer section linked with illustrations. A virtual correspondence course in one volume at moderate cost.
