While Mama takes care of the baby, Elly and Violet (the little rabbits first met in Do I Have to Take Violet?) bicker their way amiably through their own Christmas preparations. Elly, a four-year-old type, would like to manage decorating cookies and making gifts without Violet's typical, ebullient two-year-old ""help,"" but is nice enough to give in with just a little grumbling and not too much fuss. Violet, a copycat, overdoes everything (she even hangs up tights instead of a sock); but she's more than cooperative when Elly decides to fill stockings for Mama and Papa, and has some good ideas of her own. Lively, cartoon-like illustrations match the text's good humor. Warm, cheerful, and true to life--a good additional holiday book.
