THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO PREPARING BABY FOODS AT HOME

By

Pub Date: May 1st, 1973
Publisher: Doubleday

A useful basic how-to -- lots of recipes and blender techniques with copious information on just about every other pertinent thing. After a warning about the deficiencies and dangers (BHA and BHT; the nitrates and nitrites; possibly MSG) of some commercial preparations, the author devotes a lengthy chapter to infant nutrition and then proceeds to a lesson on label reading (including how to decipher the dating code). The section on feeding includes discussion of breast vs. bottle feeding, schedules, introduction of new foods; then the recipes follow with general tips and specifics. ""Instant"" foods and finger foods wind up, along with formidable charts. Certainly a complete guide for that very earnest new mother -- older and therefore busier hands will turn to the recipes where the author follows her own dietetic dicta.
