Bird-watching has special appeal for the nature student, and anyone who goes goes into it at all seriously will probably want to take the ultimate step and go in for banding. A prerequisite for a banding license is to be at least 18 years old, but the younger set can find plenty of ways to assist in the project. The text and diagrams explain the methods of trapping and banding the birds. Later chapters are largely statistical compilations of the data derived from the markings, dealing with the migrations and life spans of the birds. There is a brief resume of the history of banding. This is a useful book for those with the desire to do serious field work.
