I AM ADOPTED

Beginning ""My name is Charles. I am adopted. So is my sister, Sophie,"" and ending ""Adoption means belonging""--Charles fills in with proud and happy announcements about how he has a tractor, can play Granny's piano, helps Mommy cook and works with Daddy on the car, and gets a story every night at bedtime. In keeping with the message Charlton's soft primer-like watercolors signify warmth and togetherness--but in appearance and story value as well as size and intent, this resembles more than anything else the pamphlets that are given out in pediatricians' offices.
