KIRKUS REVIEW

Pearson, an orphan harbor seal pup, is found on a beach, taken to the California Marine Mammal Center, nursed, trained to return to the sea, and then released. Myers and Hartmann handle this fairly common subject proficiently, although with no special distinction. They offer a glimpse of the Center and its work, some wellintegrated information on seal physiology (how they can stay underwater without breathing, how they operate by echo-location), and lots of cute mug shots of Pearson. Attractive enough of its kind.
