Two leading men in the field explain and tabulate allergies which are recorded extending back circa five thousand years although the term itself was coined only in 1906. There's a play-by-play description of the consultation with a doctor and what it entails along with the diagnostic tests. Chapters deal with the more familiar allergens -- inhalants, foods, drugs, insects -- to the more eclectic; with hayfever and asthma and skin manifestations; with occupational reactions to certain substances; with the psychosomatic factors; and with the less common forms which seem to afflict almost every part of the body. There are extensive tables throughout a very well organized as well as comprehensive book and since there seems to be nothing comparable available, the market will certainly not have been desensitized.
