THE WANDERING LAKE by Sven Hedin

THE WANDERING LAKE

By

Pub Date: April 9th, 1940
Publisher: Dutton

Hedin has the faculty for combining scientific adventure, thrilling description, the quality of human interest, and the color of the strange places he visits. This is a good one, and in it he tells of how -- in 1934 -- he returned to Central Asia to visit once again the river beds leading into Lake Lop-Nor, now re-established in their channels of 1500 years before. He is a good story teller, he is stopped by nothing in the course of his exploration, and he conveys to his readers the sense of excitement and drama that he himself feels. Illustrated with photographs, reproduced in soft (sometimes almost blurred) velvety tones. Good armchair adventure.
