BEFORE YOU MARRY by Sylvanus Duvall

Email this review

A conservative, cautionary but by no means evasive book for prospective young marrieds by a counselor in the field. Basing his text around some 100 questions more frequently asked, he discusses here success in marriage- other criteria besides romantic love and the unsound motives and pressures which may influence the decision to marry. Mutual and compatible interests; the readiness and qualifications for marriage; suitability for each other- and here author-adviser Duvall is perhaps overly cautious in advising against mixed social, racial, religious backgrounds; money matters and working wives; sex; character traits and personality adjustments; mental and emotional health; etc., etc...A preview of an preparation for marriage which is sound in its considerations and counsel.
