JAPAN IN CHINA by T. A. Bisson

JAPAN IN CHINA

ISBN: 1406722839
Publisher: Macmillan

A pedestrian, accurate reporting job covering the progress in China of the Japanese forces, almost week by week. After presenting the facts of the aggressive attack, the author goes back into the conditions leading up to it, of political and military and social and economic conditions in both countries, of international relations, etc. The text lacks completely any dramatic quality, and human interest material. Even the report of the kidnapping of Chiang Kai-Chek is utterly lacking in color. The chief value of this book will be in its methodical reporting of events as they took place, and in its analysis of the reasons why Japan has not made the sweeping victory she anticipated and why China is probably destined to hold her own, and regain much of what she has lost.
