More of The Young Man of Caracas saga, that is perhaps not quite the same high point as the previous book, but does maintain much of the same enjoyment qualities. Here is amplification of his early years and schooling -- in the U.S., Venezuela, Germany, of jobs tried and found wanting, of Harvard and youthful spirits, of early poems, of early newspaper work, of friends and escapades, of European correspondent for the Times, later for Collier's. It is filled with incidents, interviews, travel, food, personal happenings, from the '20's to pre-present war, and ends on the realization that the rolling stone days are over...There is the battle between his New England and Latin heritages, the fun he gets out of the world and people. No solid treatise this, but reminiscences with relish for the laughter while appreciating the serious (in particular current world problems) and contagious enjoyment. A good follow up.
