FOUR QUARTERS by T. S. Eliot

FOUR QUARTERS

By

Pub Date: May 11th, 1943
Publisher: Harcourt Brace

Four long poems, a new form called ""quartets"", one, ""Little Gidding"", appearing in this country for the first time, the first three having been published at various times between 1935 and 1941. In sequence, they display the same philosophical leanings, the preoccupation with the problems of time and space, especially time, the reflected sceptism, of his earlier work, but followers will find here a lack of extreme scholarliness and the tendency to obscurism, and a more sincere, direct, personal and lucid approach.
