A slim volume of lectures dealing with the ideal of a community of Christians, and the linking of Church and State. From Eliot, the substance is going to have more attention, intellectually, than it might, if it came from someone less iconoclastic, less liberal. But it is not a book for popular consumption; it is somewhat abstract and esoteric, a reaching out towards a communal idea of Christianity, redefined, rather than the current idea of Christianity as an individual problem.
