CHRISTIAN WORSHIP

By

Publisher: Oxford Press

As the Christian ecumenical movement grows, there is increasing need for just such a book as this. Christian re-union can proceed intelligently and effectively only as it grows from a knowledge and appreciation of all of the history and liturgical development in . Christian Worship makes a large and positive contribution in this field, and Mr. T. S. Garrett has special qualifications to write it, for he has worked and identified himself with one of the younger ""ecumenical"" churches for 20 years, the Church of South India. He is vice-president of Tamilrad Theological College. Beginning with the Bible and Jewish worship, he writes of the spirit and forms of the historic of both East and West, giving special attention to those which have most influenced India, and including an account of the modern liturgical movement and revival which is taking place in both the Protestant and Roman Catholic Churches today. This little book is a sound guide to Christian worship, and mature study groups should find it invaluable, as will the clergy who have not closed their minds to the possibility of development and improvement of the liturgy as they have been taught to practise it.
