SNOWBALL by Ted Allbeury

No different Choice of Enemies (1973) really -- it's the same alignment of acronymical KGB and GRU -- 158 of the former and 27 of the latter at one head count and enough to justify the code name operation SNOWBALL -- to be identified and checked before they execute a long-lingering plan to get the U.S. out of NATO. Polish-English Tadeusz Anders officiates and for him there's one real loss. Big comparisons have been made (Forsyth, Le Carre) and high hopes are held but while this moves along with efficiency and a greater degree of sophistication than the earlier book, it's nothing special in the annals of infiltration.
