KIRKUS REVIEW

A book of specific interest to observant young ornithologists in its explanation of how to make your back yard into a bird sanctuary -- but not a book of bird recognition. He makes bird watching a fascinating year round hobby -- and an inexpensive one. Birds in their seasonal round, identification, how to use field guides, how to build bird houses and feeding stations, how to record observations. There is little about nests and eggs in the descriptive and identification section; there are excellent lists of shrubs and trees to attract birds; there is a good section on photography.
