By Cecile"" is sometimes suspiciously, derivatively, about Colette who also came up to Paris from the provinces to marry a much older man who made her write (profiting thereby), who had a cat for companionship, and whose first books were about her childhood and her garden, etc. Be that as it may, this is for Mlle. Torres another story of a jeune fille en fleur. Cecile at 17 is ""entirely virgin and so mpatient to live"". Live she does, but in a way she doesn't like, when she becomes the protege of Maurice Henry, a writer, critic, connoisseur of women, perverse and redatory. She marries him; submits to his erotic whims and infidelities, and only evolts after ten years- when he appropriates Henriette who was all hers. She goes off alone, to live as a nun, work as a nightclub artiste, and write for the first time as Cecile.... Un petit snack, of love, of lesbos, of desire and disillusion, and you'll need a fingerbowl- it's sticky.
