Substitute geniality for originality and you can peg this ordinary story of the extraordinary elements which surround the Hard Luck House, the 19th century home of a Bavarian Count with a history of sudden death and surviving ghosts. Pam Frost lives in a small apartment and would love to live in a modern ranch house like her friend Marcie. With Marcie, and two boys, they explore the Hard Luck House on the edge of town, find a diary under a loose board, but shivers and quivers turn to violent protests when Pam learns that her family is going to buy it. A few simpler explanations and a fresh coat of paint make it all seem more happily habitable.... Acceptable, but you will have to rely on youthful rather than unseen spirits for most of the story interest.
