AGING IS NOT FOR SISSIES by Terry Schuckman

AGING IS NOT FOR SISSIES

Midway between pep talk prose (""Get into the action"") and uplift (""confidence and the fullness of joy""), a well-intentioned book which will not tell you much that you have not learned from life or a publication like Modern Maturity. This is perhaps best on practical pointers (conserve your own prime time for the more demanding things you do -- or take your lunch rather than your dinner out, it's more economical) as she quickly surveys money, housing, diet, developing interests and activities, death, and the importance of faith. At all times the attitude is reinforcing -- do not give in. A roster of eminences grises concludes, predictably among them Casals and Picasso. A better book by far, Olga Knopf's Successful Aging (p. 1187, KR, 1974).
