This is the biography of an unusual American. Jacob Fahlstrom, while still a young boy, developed a hatred for noblemen after his parents were murdered by their Swedish Lord. This story commences when Jacob once again believes himself to be betrayed by a titled gentleman. Shipwrecked off the shore of Hudson Bay, he struggles through the wilderness until he is adopted by a childless Ojibway Indian couple. He becomes their son, both nominally and emotionally, participates in their tribal activities, and fights with them when they are pitted against enemy tribes. This account reads with the impact of fiction and sheds light on the early days of white colonization of this continent.
