PASSOVER: Its History & Tradition

We had occasion a year ago to go into the question of Passover, its significance and celebration. Research took us into various sources, and nowhere was there one book, of modern interpretation, which gave us what we sought. Now comes this volume, which brings together not only the history, the folklore, the legend, the tradition of Passover, but adds recent confirmation- in archeological discoveries -- of the approximate period (early 17th century B.C.), and gives fully detailed explanation of the forms and symbolism of the Seder, not only in Jewish observation generally, but among the dwindling remnant of the Samaritans. A book of careful scholarship, linking Jewish history and legend with that of other ancient peoples, tracing not only the Whens and Whys of the Passover, but the Hows- and in final analysis, stressing Passover as a yearly emphasis on not only the exodus from slavery, but the beginning of responsibility and redemption through God.
