YOUR CHILDREN'S TEETH

Unless one is a dentist or vampire, one will not snatch up a tome about teeth and their troubles for fun, but this complete guide to the care of children's teeth is happily devoid of that terrible urgency that accompanies most molar manuals, and is readable, useful, sane. The authors do cover all possible sorts and conditions of the miserable mandibles--problem-prevention (diet, cleansing, a non-alarmist view of thumb and pacifier chewing); treatment (first visit to the dentist, orthodontics; what goes on in a dentist's chair); unusual diseases and malformations; profiles of the tooth eruptions and dental ills of children at the different age periods. Fearlessly naming names, the authors discuss dentifrices, electric toothbrushes and water devices, and do not hedge on orthodontic fees (average $1000 per job). The compleat cuspid and its care--up to date.
