GIFTED CHILDREN: The Cleveland Story

An informal visit to the Cleveland Public School Major Work program will give parents and teachers an idea of what can be done in the public school system to facilitate the growth of exceptionally bright children who stagnate in the usual classes. Our reporter discusses the characteristics of gifted children --their interest, creativeness, persistence and initiative. He describes how they are chosen to be in special classes -- their IQ is above 125, while children with a ""high X"" endowment who still profit from regular class programs are often given added ""enrichment classes"".
