The Creator's Way

World Ego and Spirit Soul

by Theoni Moraitis

Pub Date: Oct. 10th, 2016
Publisher: iUniverse

A dualistic New-Age view of the soul that also offers tips on how to take care of it.

The purpose of the “divinely sourced messages” in this book is stated clearly by Moraitis (T.H.E.O.N.I. Way, 2011) in her preface: “to guide you when you are in need of guidance or direction or simply have requested a sign from Spirit.” The book’s two sections, titled “The World Ego” and “The Spirit Soul,” each begin with an explanatory introduction that includes Moraitis’ experiences with hypnotherapy, followed by several original, inspirational thoughts, arranged by topic. “The World Ego” is described as “a manifestation of your human relationship with your physical world” and its section explores such concepts as the differences between mind and body, what values are, and the limits of control. “The Spirit Soul,” on the other hand, “exists in the unconscious state of non-judgment” and is characterized by concepts such as integrity, vulnerability, and forgiveness. Most of the inspirational thoughts here are presented in paragraph form, although occasionally Moraitis inserts short quotes (such as “Self confidence is a choice. Choose to shine!”) set against photographic backdrops, often portraying landscapes. She neatly presents each thought on a separate page, making the book both aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate. Unfortunately, the explanations of the World Ego and the Spirit Soul lack specificity, so readers may find them difficult to comprehend; it might have been useful, for example, to compare and contrast them. The inspirational messages, for the most part, require deep pondering but carry rich meaning. Overall, the book’s dogmatism and abstractness may not appeal to the scientifically minded. However, it will make a fine addition to the libraries of spiritually minded readers who thrive on discussions of spiritual “energy” (a word used more than 100 times in the book) and who seek greater self-awareness.

Substantial spiritual wisdom for readers who are willing to put in the necessary effort.
