A FOREIGN POLICY FOR AMERICAN BUSINESS by Thomas Aitken

A FOREIGN POLICY FOR AMERICAN BUSINESS

Pub Date: Jan. 17th, 1961

The author calls upon all to recognize that American business abroad is a facet of American foreign policy and he maintains this has never been really recognized by either business or government. It is his contention that while European nations have known this for centuries, U.S. business has wanted no interference from government and government has shied away from involvement with the overseas trading of its citizens. The book contains a balanced, reasoned and clear appeal for cooperation, but it is of limited interest if for no other reason than that it is clearly a primer. Few people will quarrel, for example, with such often repeated admonitions that it helps if you know the language and the customs and even the psychology of the people with whom you intend to do business. But few people are going to turn handsprings over seeing the advice in print once again.
