HUNTER AT LARGE

Fast paced and brutal, without being cheap, this is a rather unusual story of a young police detective who constitutes himself avenger and ""hunter at large"". A particularly horrible and senseless murder of his young wife- and the presumed lingering death which he foiled, left him alive and bitter, determined to run down the criminals and find out the reason for the crime. How he goes about it -- the ingenious tracking down of the men and the cause- a case of mistaken identity- makes for sustained interest. The characters, new in Dewey's cast -- and the setting, not far from Chicago, show a departure from his tried and true pattern.
